1. Tyrrells - Hunter Heroes Brokeback Shiraz 2013 6x 75cl Bottles    Tyrrells - Hunter Heroes Brokeback Shiraz 2013 6x 75cl Bottles.
A continuation of the fabulous run of Brokenback vintages since 2006. The 2009 vintage shows aromas of red berry fruits with only a very subtle lift of French oak. These characters then flow seamlessly onto the palate, with plush, sweet fruit balanced by soft acid and tannin, resulting in a classic Hunter shiraz. Fruit was harvested in early February and fermented in hand plunged open vats. The wine was then matured primarily in 'large' French oak casks for eighteen months respecting tradition and the fruit quality, with only 10% receiving small oak maturation. A rich, classic wine of this nature is best served with rich, classic food accompaniments including roasted meats such as lamb or beef.

6. Tyrrells - Lunatiq Heathcote Shiraz 2006 6x 75cl Bottles    Tyrrells - Lunatiq Heathcote Shiraz 2006 6x 75cl Bottles.
The oldest and most reliable blocks were targeted for this blend. The grapes were picked then transported to the Hunter Valley for vinification. A pre-soak as the must warmed, fermentation at 25 C and post ferment skin contact time took a total of 20 days, to fully develop tannin structure, flavour and balance. After fermentation, the wine was matured in high quality, tight grain French oak barriques for twelve months before barrel selection took place. The remaining best barrels were matured for a further twelve months before bottling. Deep garnet red in colour, the aromas are dark and brooding with hints of chocolate and plum lifted by cinnamon spiced French oak. All the dark fruit flavours are framed on the palate by rich, layered fruit tannins, tight powdery fine grained oak and the classic mineral texture you get from great Heathcote wines. Starting to hit its straps now, it will also reward with careful cellaring.
